Yes it is helpful for you to site in your rifle prior to the hunt and practice as much as possible.
Since we generally hunt at elevations of 7500 – 8500 feet, we recommend you:
- Walk in Your Hunting Boots Prior to Your Arrival
- Stay Hydrated at ALL Times
- Don’t Overexert Yourself if Coming From Sea Level

Make sure you purchase your hunting license in advance of the scheduled hunt. Submit for the Appropriate Animal Tag and Season for Unit 78. You can visit the Colorado Parks & Wildlife site to purchase a license or get one in a Colorado hunting/outdoor store.

Yes, you will need to purchase required Blaze Orange outside coverings. In addition, layered clothing works best – Early morning can be 10 degrees with 40 degrees by mid afternoon. Layers include warm hats, gloves, thermal underwear, jackets, and good boots.
